San Jose State beats Sacramento State 62-57

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — James Kinney scored 20 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 3:44 to go, and San Jose State defeated Sacramento State 62-57 Saturday night.

Chris Cunningham had 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Spartans (5-3), who have won three in a row.

John Dickson led the Hornets (5-3) with 16 points. Dylan Garrity scored 12 points and Konner Veteto had 11 points and nine rebounds for Sacramento State.

The Hornets led 20-8 midway through the first half but the Spartans only trailed 28-22 at the break. After Kinney’s 3-pointer put San Jose State ahead, the Spartans sealed it at the free-throw line with D.J. Brown making 7 of 8 tries in the last 1:06.

Both teams shot 31 percent from the field.
