OLYMPIA — State Rep. Brandon Vick, R-Vancouver, was sworn in Friday to his first term in the state House of Representatives, signalling the start of his service for the 18th Legislative District.

Most new legislators will be sworn in next month at the start of the legislative session, but Vick was sworn in the day after election results were certified Thursday because the House seat was being filled by an interim appointment.

Ann Rivers, R-La Center, resigned from the House position earlier this year so she could be appointed to fill an empty seat in the state Senate. Liz Pike, R-Camas, soon was appointed by Clark and Cowlitz county commissioners to fill in for Rivers until her replacement was chosen by voters in this year’s general election.

Voters picked Pike to serve in the other 18th District House position, and she will be sworn in next month.

To contact Vick, call 360-786-7850, email him at brandon.vick@leg.wa.gov or visit his Web page on the House Republican’s website at http://www.houserepublicans.wa.gov/brandon-vick.
