Letter: Severity of deed affects decorum

The Columbian
Published: December 10, 2012, 4:00pm

I am surprised by The Columbian’s Dec. 4 “Talking Points” in suggesting that the NFL and Kansas City Chiefs should have taken the week off out of respect for Jovan Belcher. In contrast to sensitivity shown by Major League Baseball regarding the deaths of Nick Adenhart (car accident) and Darryl Kile (heart attack), Belcher had just finished murdering his girlfriend.

Perhaps we should also declare O.J. Simpson’s birthday as a holiday.
