Thirty audition for 18 Volcano dance team positions

Orchards -- The Vancouver Volcanoes, our local professional basketball team, is supported by a dance squad at every home game. On Dec. 2, 30 aspiring Volcano dancers auditioned for 18 slots on the team at LA Fitness in Orchards. They did interviews and learned a quick dance routine.
"Our dancers are really good and aspire to be the best in hopes of being picked up for other teams," said coach Desiree Goode. The team has lost three dancers to the Portland Trail Blazers in recent years, she said, and that's a good thing. Rehearsals begin in January and the Volcanoes season runs from April through June. The Volcanoes' home court is O'Connell Sports Complex at Clark College.
