Evansville rolls past Alabama State for 80-67 win

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Colt Ryan scored 24 points, including three 3-pointers, to help Evansville improve to 3-0 all-time against Alabama State with an 80-67 victory Saturday afternoon.

Ryan, a senior, was 3 of 6 from behind the arc. Ryan Sawvell added 11 points, Jaylon Moore had 10 and Troy Taylor scored just two points but pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for the Purple Aces (6-4), who gave up the first basket of the game but never trailed after that. Evansville led by as many as 24 in the second half.

Phillip Crawford scored 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead the Hornets (1-8), and Shawntez Patterson chipped in 13 points. Alabama State committed 22 turnovers, leading to 23 Evansville points, and was outscored 34-20 in the paint.

In addition to staying perfect in three games against Alabama State, Evansville improved to 7-0 all-time against Southwestern Athletic Conference teams.
