Cal State-Fullerton defeats Texas Southern 93-86

HOUSTON (AP) — D.J. Seeley scored 27 points and Cal-State Fullerton battled back from a 10-point deficit in the second half to defeat Texas Southern 93-86 on Sunday.

The Titans (5-5) only used seven players, but five of them scored in double figures. Kwame Vaughn had 16 points, Sammy Yeager and Jared Brandon each scored 13, and Deuce Johnson finished with 10 points for Fullerton. The visitors shot 71 percent in the second half to overcome the Tigers’ 48-38 lead with 16 minutes to play.

A 14-0 run, with six Titans contributing, gave Fullerton the lead for good. The Titans finished with 61 percent accuracy from the field.

Fred Sturdivant led Texas Southern (1-9) with 22 points. Omar Strong and Lawrence Johnson-Danner scored 20 apiece. The Tigers shot 56 percent from the field in the game but it wasn’t enough to keep them from their seventh straight loss.
