BIA joins the Community Partnership Initiative to help seniors

The Building Industry Association’s Remodeler’s Council has partnered with CDM Long-Term Care Services’ “Community Partnership Initiative” to provide assistance to Clark County seniors.

This month members of the Remodeler’s Council pooled its resources, including materials and donated labor, to replace a back porch and steps for a senior citizen receiving in-home care services from CDM. The old porch had become a safety hazard and could no longer be used.

Mike Kinnaman of Designers NW led the team, donating some of the materials and prefabrication, Kelli Leisure of Krippner, Inc. donated materials and labor to install the new porch, and Fazzolari Custom Homes & Renovations and Larry Scherer volunteered to assist with the installation of the new porch.

CDM’s “Community Partnership Initiative” is a program developed as a result of seeing needs of Clark County seniors and people with disabilities that could not be funded by traditional tax-funded services.

Often, a small home repair or modification makes the difference between remaining at home and being institutionalized.

Through community partnership, donations, and volunteering, solutions become possible and families remain intact.

CDM Long-Term Care Services is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency founded by three community volunteers in 1978 who recognized the need for options for the elderly and disabled to remain in their own home.

CDM provides in-home care, adult day services in uptown Vancouver, and more supportive services to allow people to age with dignity where they choose to live.
