Have you received a call from someone soliciting donations to support Amber Alerts? The Washington State Patrol says it’s a scam. The patrol does not rely on public donations to administer the Amber Alert system and are not asking for money, the agency said in a press release.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and amberalert.com are not doing any fundraising or telephone solicitations, the press release said. The state patrol does not know where these calls are originating.
