McCallum leads Detroit past Alcorn State 74-58

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Ray McCallum scored 19 points and handed out five assists as Detroit defeated Alcorn State 74-58 Friday.

It was the first road win in six tries this season for the Titans (7-5), who were coming off a 72-68 loss Monday at No. 3 Syracuse.

All five Detroit starters scored in double figures against the Braves (2-9), who lost their fifth consecutive game. Doug Anderson added 15 points with five rebounds and two blocked shots, Nick Minnerath and Jason Calliste scored 13 points each and Juwan Howard Jr. added 12 points.

Detroit used a 14-0 run at the start of the second half to put the game out of reach.

Ian Francis and Anthony Nieves scored 13 points each to lead Alcorn State, which led 26-21 but was outscored 12-1 over the final 4:54 of the first half.
