No. 23 Florida State women rout Mercer 94-42

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Natasha Howard led five players in double figures with 17 points and 12 rebounds as No. 23 Florida State defeated Mercer 94-42 Wednesday night.

Chelsea Davis had 17, Alexa Deluzio added 15, Chasity Clayton tallied 13, and Leonor Rodriguez chipped in 10 for Florida State, which is the only team in the country with five players averaging double figures in scoring.

Davis and Clayton both went 6 of 10 from the field and grabbed seven boards apiece for Florida State (9-1), which outrebounded Mercer 59-46 — the Seminoles’ highest total of the season.

Florida State opened the game on an 11-2 run and took a 25-12 lead on a layup from Clayton. The Seminoles took a 42-21 advantage into the break and extended their lead to 43, 74-31, on Deluzio’s second 3-pointer of the game.

Kendra Grant had 15 for Mercer (7-3), which was 1-of-17 shooting from 3-point range.
