South Alabama beats Arkansas-Little Rock 77-62

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Augustine Rubit scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures as South Alabama beat Arkansas-Little Rock 77-62 in a Sun Belt conference showdown.

Barrington Stevens finished with 17 points, Mychal Ammons added 15 and Xavier Roberson chipped in with 13 to help South Alabama (6-5, 3-0) become the only 3-0 team in the Sun Belt Conference.

South Alabama led 56-52 with 8:11 remaining before using a 10-4 run to jump ahead 66-56 at the 5 minute mark. Barrington capped the run with a trey.

The Trojans (8-6, 2-1) got as close as eight points late in the second half, but Appalachian State made 14 free throws in the period to run away with the victory.

Rubit scored his 1000th career point and recorded his sixth double-double of the season.

John Gillon was the only player in double figures for Arkansas-Little Rock with 10 points.
