Letter: Many citizens still support light rail

The Columbian
Published: December 24, 2012, 4:00pm

How bold of people like County Commissioner-elect David Madore and Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, to fabricate their own interpretation of the people’s vote on Proposition 1.

Many of us were opposed to the proposed funding plans to tax and toll but are extremely supportive of connecting Vancouver to Portland via light rail.

I can understand why rural folks don’t support light rail, but a huge number of citizens living in urban Vancouver want the jobs and ease of access to Portland that light rail will bring.

If Madore and Herrera Beutler want to live in a fantasy world, fine. But don’t pretend you hear our voices.
