Boys basketball: Union 71, Lakes 42

Kyle Mercer had a big shooting night, and Isaiah Robinson had a record-setting night on defense for the Union Titans in the first round of the Tournament of Champions at Franklin High School in Seattle.

Robinson set a school record with seven blocked shots in the rout.

Mercer connected on three 3-pointers, including one that ignited a 12-0 run to start the second half.

Union extended a six-point lead to 24 with a 26-point outburst.

Mercer finished with 15 points. Skillful Davis added 13, and Tyler Copp had 12 for the Titans.

Union plays Foss in the tournament’s semifinals at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
