Gantt leads Florida Atlantic over Troy 61-54

TROY, Ala. (AP) — Greg Gantt scored 26 points and Florida Atlantic snapped a three-game losing streak with a 61-54 Sun Belt Conference win over Troy Thursday night.

Gantt was 7-of-18 shooting and 10-of-13 from the foul line. The senior entered Thursday eighth nationally with 21.2 points per game, and has now scored 20 or more in four straight and in eight of his past nine after failing to reach the plateau in the team’s first four games.

Pablo Bertone followed with 21 points and seven rebounds for the Owls (6-7, 2-1).

Antoine Myers led the Trojans (5-9, 0-3) with 18 points.

Troy jumped ahead 5-0 and 8-6 and then led until Gantt’s 3-pointer put FAU ahead 30-29 with 1:38 until halftime. The trey was a part of an 18-0 run that put the Owls up 49-29 with 17:35 left. Troy pulled within 57-54, but Gantt closed with four straight free throws.
