An annual bird count will send volunteers out to record wildlife activity in several parts of Clark County on Sunday.

The count is part of the Christmas Bird Count, a broad effort sponsored by the National Audubon Society. The event coordinates bird counts in all parts of the country each December and early January.

Sunday’s count is part of a survey of the Sauvie Island area, based in Portland. The area also stretches into the Washington side of the Columbia River, including the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Burnt Bridge Creek and the Vancouver Lake area. The Vancouver Audubon Society is helping coordinate volunteers in Washington.
