Columbia River 54, Southridge (Ore.) 51 -- Isaiah Smith scored 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting as Columbia River held on to beat Southridge of Beaverton, Ore., in the consolation semifinal at the Les Schwab Invitational in Hillsboro, Ore.
Columbia River (7-3) will play Jefferson of Portland in the consolation final at 4 p.m. Saturday at Liberty High School.
River took a 47-36 lead into the fourth quarter, but Southridge got with 53-49 with about two minutes to go as the Chieftains struggled from the free-throw line.
Rian Bassett converted a free throw to push the lead back to 54-49, but the Skyhawks made two free throws to get within 54-51 with 36 seconds to go.
River missed all four free throw attempts in the final 30 seconds, giving Southridge two chances to make tying 3-pointers. Bassett blocked the last shot to secure the win.
