Liberty beats Union (KY) 104-67

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Six Liberty players scored in double figures as the Flames beat Union (Ky.) 104-67 Friday night.

Davon Marshall, JR Coronado, Andrew Smith and Tavares Speaks each scored 14 points, Joel Vander Pol added 12, and Chad Donley chipped in with 10 for the Flames (3-10)

Ahead 22-19 with 9:45 left in the first half, Liberty used a 12-3 run to take a double-digit lead over the NAIA Bulldogs, capped by Casey Roberts’ 3-pointer at the 7:16 mark.

Marshall went 5 for 5 from the field and made both his free throws to finish the first half with 14 points. The Flames led at halftime 47-32.

Union (7-7) got within eight points in the second half, 53-45, after James Strange’s 3-pointer with 15:54 left to play, but Liberty closed out the Bulldogs with a 51-22 run to end the game.

Deante Johnson led Union with 17 points.
