SE Missouri downs UT-Martin 65-60

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Tyler Stone had 23 points and nine rebounds as Southeast Missouri State rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Tennessee-Martin 65-60 Saturday in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Nino Johnson added 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Redhawks (9-6), and Lucas Nutt has six assists.

Myles Taylor and Jeremy Washington scored 14 points apiece for Tennessee-Martin (3-10), which lost its fifth straight. Washington also had 10 rebounds, as did Tobias Dowdell.

The Skyhawks scored the first nine points of the game and extended the lead to 21-6 on a 3-pointer by Mike Liabo. Southeast Missouri got within 30-27 by halftime and took its first lead of the game, 39-38, on a 3-pointer by Marland Smith with 14:17 remaining.

The game was tied 56-56 with 4:22 left when Stone hit back-to-back jumpers. After a layup by DeMarc Richardson got Tennessee-Martin within two, Stone converted a three-point play with 2:23 remaining to make it 63-58.
