Long-shot Bird House wins Big A feature

NEW YORK (AP) — Bird House, making her first start since February, pulled a 24-1 upset Sunday in the $54,000 allowance feature for New York bred fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for trainer Gary Gullo as the 3-year-old overcame the layoff to beat Cape Cod Carol by 3 1/4 lengths. The time was 1:12.92 for the six furlongs over the track rated good.

Bird House paid $50.50, $21.80 and $10.60. Cape Cod Carol returned $12.80 and $6.90, and Warrior Marie paid $7.20 to show.
