KENT, Wash. (AP) — An Auburn baby sitter who shook an 8-month old so hard he suffered extensive brain damage was sentenced Wednesday in Kent to 10 years in prison — the maximum.

Doctors say little Colby Thompson may never see, walk or have a normal life.

His mother, Jamie Thompson, told the King County Superior Court judge the baby sitter “murdered who my child was supposed to be.”

Twenty-year-old Dotty Marie Reed pleaded guilty last month to child assault.

KIRO-TV reports (http://is.gd/789vN5 ) Reed was baby-sitting Colby on May 20, 2010, at her Auburn home when he became fussy and she slammed him down and jerked him back up. She called 911 when he stopped breathing normally.

Reed told the court she’s praying every day for a miracle for Colby.
