Battle Ground -- A second Rotary Interact Club has recently formed in the Battle Ground School District.
A charter celebration was held Jan. 20 by the group’s sponsors: The Battle Ground Rotary Club and several Rotarians. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for ages 12 to 18.
Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but are self-governing and self-supporting.
According to Battle Ground Rotarian Loren Joner, it took about a year for him and his daughter, McKenzie, to organize and form this new club. McKenzie is the president of the new club, which boasts 17 charter members.
“The students at CAM (High School) are interested in having a club that can benefit their local community while also having an impact on the world,” Loren Joner said. “I also look forward to ensuring that the Interact Club is an integral part of Battle Ground Rotary Club, facilitating the relationships between the adults and the high schoolers.”
