BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State coach Chris Petersen is getting almost an even split on offense and defense from his new 2012 recruiting class.

Petersen announced Wednesday the addition of 24 new players to the Broncos. Of those, 11 played offense in high school or at junior college, 12 played on defense and the final member is a kicker and punter.

The recruiting class includes six players who enrolled last month and are getting a head start on making a bid for playing time in the fall.

Petersen and his staff recruited heavily in California and Texas, but also turned to Orlando, Fla. to land quarterback Nick Patti. Patti graduated from high school early after compiling a 34-4 career record.

On offense, the Broncos signed three linemen and two running backs and receivers
