PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Attorney General John Kroger says he’ll sign a multistate settlement with five banks to resolve charges they wrongfully foreclosed on homeowners.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/rcfYig ) the settlement will provide about $30 million to help an estimated 8,000 troubled homeowners in the state avoid foreclosure.

Under the settlement Oregon waives its right to bring civil lawsuits against Bank of America Corp., Wells Fargo & Co., JPMorgan Chase & Co., Ally Financial Inc. and Citigroup Inc.
