TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) — The broken water pipe that flooded a Tukwila parking lot for four hours Thursday morning was an 8-inch secondary feeder, not the main 5-foot-wide transmission line from the Cedar River watershed.

Seattle Public Utilities spokesman Andy Ryan says the 8-inch line broke near the bigger line, which led to the confusion in the early reports. He says the 8-inch line was pressurized, but not in use. So there’s no interruption in service or water safety concern.

As repair crews worked Thursday afternoon there was no indication what caused the break.

The water flooded a hotel parking lot. Ryan said it damaged three cars and also flooded a car wash.
