PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police say they used beanbag rounds and a stun gun to end a standoff with a suicidal woman who had been holding a 12-inch butcher knife to her throat.

KATU-TV reports (http://is.gd/MzTg21) that officers fired four beanbag rounds Wednesday and the stun gun to subdue the woman. Police say she was not seriously hurt. Medics removed her in an ambulance.

Officers had responded to talk to the woman inside a house.

Last week, Portland police shot and killed a man who pulled a replica handgun from his jacket pocket after threatening to jump from a roof and telling dispatchers he wanted to be killed by police.

Police say they responded to about 1,100 calls of people threatening suicide in 2011.
