Mount St. Mary’s beats St. Francis (Pa.) 64-51

EMMITTSBURG, Md. (AP) — Kelvin Parker scored 20 points and Mount St. Mary’s used a second-half run to pull away from St. Francis (Pa.) 64-51 on Thursday night.

Parker, who scored 12 points in the second half, was 8 of 13 from the field and made four 3-pointers.

Both teams kept it close in the first half as there were five ties and six lead changes before St. Francis took a 29-25 lead into halftime.

But the Mountaineers (6-16, 4-7 Northeast Conference) opened the second half with an 18-11 run to take a 43-38 lead with 11:41 left to play. The Red Flash cut the deficit to 46-42 but Mount St. Mary’s used another run, this time 11-3, to take the lead for good, 57-45, with 2:13 remaining.

Stephon Whyatt and Earl Brown led St. Francis (5-17, 4-7) with 12 points apiece.

Mount St. Mary’s dominated the boards 34-19 and forced 18 turnovers.
