GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Trevis Simpson scored 23 points as UNC Greensboro held off The Citadel 82-71 Thursday night to win its seventh straight game.

The Spartans (9-14, 7-4 Southern Conference), who won their previous two contests in overtime, also defeated the Bulldogs 67-66 on Jan. 14.

UNC Greensboro’s winning streak is the second-longest of the school’s Division I era, which began in 1991-92. The 1995-96 squad, which made the NCAA Tournament, had an eight-game streak.

The Spartans led 39-29 at halftime, then stretched the lead to 12 points.

After Bo Holston’s layup with 15:40 left got The Citadel within four points, at 45-41, Aloysius Henry made a three-point play and Drew Parker hit a 3-pointer to push the lead back into double figures.

Derrell Armstrong added 14 points, Henry 13 and Korey Van Dussen 11 for the Spartans.

Mike Groselle scored 20 to lead the Bulldogs (4-18, 1-10), who have lost seven straight.
