Western Carolina holds off Chattanooga 82-76

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) — Brandon Boggs scored 21 points and Keaton Cole added 18 as Western Carolina held off Chattanooga 82-76 Thursday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Catamounts (10-14, 4-7 Southern Conference) made 15 of a school-record 41 3-point attempts. Boggs was 5 of 12 from beyond the arc and Cole 6 of 19 to help Western Carolina split the season series with the Mocs, who won 78-62 on Jan. 5.

The Catamounts led 45-32 at halftime and by as many as 18 with 15:54 remaining. After Chattanooga cut the deficit to 76-72 with 2:17 left, Western Carolina made 6 of 8 free throws to seal it, with Trey Sumler hitting 4 of 6.

Sumler and Harouna Mutombo added 14 points apiece for the Catamounts and Tawaski King tied his career high with 14 rebounds.

Omar Wattad scored 18 points to lead the Mocs (9-15, 3-8), who have lost six straight.
