Mbamalu leads Louisiana-Lafayette past Troy 83-78

TROY, Ala. (AP) -- Bryant Mbamalu scored a career-high 27 points and Louisiana-Lafayette held off Troy 83-78 Saturday night to give the Ragin' Cajuns a season-best four-game winning streak.

Mbamalu was 10 of 12 from the field and hit 6 of 7 3-pointers for Louisiana-Lafayette (14-11, 8-3 Sun Belt Conference), which led by 10 early, but only 30-28 at halftime.

The Trojans pulled ahead by one on three occasions, the last at 46-45 with 12:57 remaining, but the Ragin' Cajuns prompty regained the lead each time.

With Louisiana-Lafayette ahead 77-63 with 3:45 left, Troy made an 11-0 run to get within three points with 1:52 to go.

The Ragin' Cajuns made 6 of 10 free throws down the stretch while the Trojans hit only 1 of 6 field goals.

Will Weathers scored 22 points and Justin Wright 21 for Troy (7-15, 2-9), which has lost four straight and six of the last seven.
