Morehead State squeezes by Eastern Illinois 56-55

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Angelo Warner sank a free throw with 2 seconds left Saturday night, boosting Morehead State to a 56-55 victory over Eastern Illinois.

Drew Kelly, Ty Proffitt and Milton Chavis led the Eagles (13-12, 6-5 Ohio Valley) with 11 points apiece.

Jeremy Granger hit double figures for the 19th time this season, scoring 17 points to pace the Panthers (9-14, 2-9). Joey Miller added 15, all on 3-pointers, and Alfonzo McKinnie scored 13.

Eastern Illinois dropped its eighth in a row and fifth straight at home.

The Eagles led 52-43 with 2:49 left. But the Panthers used four 3-pointers, two each by Miller and Granger, to tie it at 55 with 19 seconds left before Warner won it.

Morehead State shot 57 percent (17 of 30) from the floor and held a wide edge at the free throw line, going 17 of 22 to the Panthers’ 4 of 6.
