EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Police acknowledge that drugs may have been the target of two men who reportedly burst into a Eugene home, one of whom was killed by gunfire.

Neither the man killed nor the alleged shooter has been identified.

The Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/yw2QFX ) 39-year-old Darrin George Dubouch and an accomplice burst into the home on Thursday. The accomplice was shot and killed by a 27-year-old man in the home.

Eugene police Detective Matt Herbert says Dubouch and the man slain likely targeted the house.

Herbert says the shooter told police that he grabbed a handgun after two men forced their way into his home while he was alone there.

Dubouch is being held in the Lane County Jail on the robbery and burglary charges.
