PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A couple and their adult son were found injured but alive Saturday in Southern Oregon, six days after they disappeared from their campsite to go mushroom picking.

Curry County Sheriff John Bishop says Belinda and Daniel Conne, both 47, and their 25-year-old son, Michael, were found in the woods near Gold Beach.

The search had focused on a 4-square-mile area. Bishop says the family was in the search area but likely kept moving, making the search for them more difficult.

Bishop says one family member suffered a back injury, and another had a broken ankle, but he says he didn’t know which person suffered which injury.

The family was airlifted from the area by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and taken to a local hospital, where they will be interviewed.
