Shearry helps Riverside holds off UC Davis 59-52

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — B.J. Shearry scored a career-high 17 points and added 10 rebounds as UC Riverside sent UC Davis to its 18th straight loss, 59-52 Saturday night.

Kevin Bradshaw added 12 points and Robert Smith had 11 for the Highlanders (11-12, 5-5 Big West), who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Josh Ritchart had 21 points and eight rebounds for UC Davis (1-21, 0-10), which made 9 of 22 3-point attempts but was plagued by 20 turnovers.

Riverside trailed by six early in the second half before putting together an 11-1 run capped by Robert Smith’s jumper to take a 43-38 lead with 8:05 remaining.

UC Davis pulled within 47-46 on a 3-pointer by Ritchart, but Kevin Bradshaw converted a three-point play for Riverside and Shearry scored on two dunks to put the Highlanders ahead 54-47 with 41 seconds left.

Riverside, which averaged 18 turnovers during its four-game losing streak, had only 10 vs. UC Davis.
