Business name: Venice Genoa Stone & Tile.

Owner: Fabio Ferruzzi and Mario Dodici.

Address: 3001 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver.

What the business does:Venice Genoa Stone & Tile offers slab fabrication, finishing and installation of natural and engineered solid surfaces. It also imports, distributes and retails porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass, metal and other specialty tile and stone products. Venice Genoa does residential and commercial work and installs all products.

How has the economy affected your business: The company’s last very good year was 2007, although it saw a steady increase in business through 2010 and 2011. More general contractors, construction managers and others are competing for projects, generally driving prices down and making it more difficult to compete. Most customers don’t note the difference in quality, just the difference in price.

Greatest challenge: Venice Genoa is interested in expanding business, specifically within Clark County, company officials said. The challenge has been to find new ways to advertise and to keep pricing competitive while also maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.

What’s ahead: Venice Genoa is launching a new updated website. It also has plans to stock more granite and quartz slabs to reduce material costs.Year established in Clark County: 1999.Employees: 20.
