BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Jamal Crook scored 24 points to lead Western Kentucky to a 75-66 victory over South Alabama Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference game.
Crook’s superb shooting was nearly perfect. The guard missed just one shot, making 9 of 10 field goal attempts, hitting his only 3-point shot and going 5 for 5 at the foul line. He also had six assists for the Hilltoppers (8-15, 4-6).
Augustine Rubit led South Alabama (12-10, 4-7) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Antoine Rubit added 15 points and Freddie Goldstein 11.
Crook got support from Teeng Akol, who scored 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and blocked four shots. George Fant came off the bench to score 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. T.J. Price added 11 points, making 3 of 4 treys.
Western Kentucky broke a 35-all halftime tie and outscored the Jaguars 40-31 in the second half.
