SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) -- A kayaker happened to be in the right place Monday to help save a teenage girl stuck in the Snohomish River at Snohomish.
Shelly Allan of Snohomish saw the flashing emergency lights as fire department crews tried to reach the girl on a steep bank choked with vegetation. Allan held her head above water until a rescue boat arrived. The girl was taken to a hospital.
The Daily Herald reports (http://is.gd/4ksv0E ) she had gone into the water with a young man who was also trapped. He was able to climb out on a fire department ladder.
