EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- An intruder shot dead by a Eugene resident during a reported burglary had just been released from jail the day before.
Police say 44-year-old Shawn Connelly of Springfield was one of two intruders Thursday at the home.
KVAL reports (http://is.gd/UWh9WM ) that on Wednesday he had been booked into the Lane County Jail on heroin charges and was released the same day.
A jail spokeswoman told The Register-Guard he was released after four hours because of jail overcrowding.
The second intruder was found in the neighborhood by a police dog. Thirty-nine-year-old Darrin George Dubouch of Coburg is held in the Lane County Jail for investigation of robbery and burglary.
