Sheriff: Wash. homeowner fatally shoots intruder



EDMONDS, Wash. (AP) — A Snohomish County sheriff’s officer says an apparent intruder has been fatally shot by an Edmonds, Wash., homeowner.

Sheriff’s Chief Kevin Prentiss said preliminary information indicates a man broke into a residence Tuesday night and was shot. The intruder died at the scene.

Sheriff’s major crimes detectives were called to investigate.

Neither the homeowner nor the dead man was immediately identified.
