NEW YORK (AP) — A German man has won an annual race up 86 flights of stairs at the Empire State Building for the seventh straight time.

Stuttgart resident Thomas Dold dashed up the stairs Wednesday in 10 minutes and 28 seconds. His time last year was 10 minutes and 10 seconds.

The New York Road Runners club says Wellington, New Zealand, resident Melissa Moon won the women’s division. Her time was 12 minutes and 39 seconds.

This year’s Empire State Building Run-Up was held at night. That’s a switch from previous years, when it was held in the morning. Organizers say the change allows more people to take part. About 650 people registered.

Contestants started in the lobby and climbed 1,576 stairs before finishing on the observation deck.
