Letter: Advice for motorists, pedestrians

I wanted to let people know of a growing problem in Vancouver. There are many crosswalks that are marked and have flashing lights to signal that somebody is crossing Fourth Plain Boulevard. At most of these crosswalks, I have seen people waiting to cross with the lights flashing and drivers just flying by without slowing down.
I use one of the crosswalks five days a week and I might get one day a week where people will stop and let me cross. I want drivers to know that they need to stop at crosswalks if the lights are flashing, and I want to warn pedestrians that they need to make sure that drivers are going to follow the law and stop before they start crossing the street.
