Monmouth (NJ) defeats Fairleigh Dickinson 75-62

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Jesse Steele scored 15 points, dished out six assists and tallied three steals to lead Monmouth (N.J.) over Fairleigh Dickinson 75-62 on Wednesday night.

The Hawks (8-18, 6-7 Northeast Conference) shot 54.5 percent in the first half (18 of 33) to jump out to a 20-point lead (49-29). Monmouth would need the advantage, making just 5 of 25 field goals in the second half.

Fairleigh Dickinson (2-22 1-12) outscored Monmouth 33-26 in the second half but was not able to overcome its turnovers.

The Knights turned it over 17 times, including eight leading to 12 points in the first half.

The Hawks finished scoring 21 points off Fairleigh Dickinson’s miscues.

Andrew Nicholas added 11 points and Dion Nesmith 10 for the Hawks.

Melquan Bolding led the Knights with 17 points off the bench.
