Buy a book for kids at Seuss-a-Palooza drive

You can support an elementary school student’s reading by contributing to the fourth annual Seuss-a-Palooza Book Drive at Clark College.

Put on by the college’s service learning program and its bookstore, the drive is looking for people to buy 145 copies of “Green Eggs and Ham,” which then will be given to kindergartners at Vancouver’s Fruit Valley and Harney elementary schools on March 2.

That day is Read Across America Day, which commemorates the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel -- better known as Dr. Seuss. On that day, young students across the country read the author’s books. Organizers hope the exercise will spur the kids’ interest in reading.

Copies of the book will be available at the Clark College bookstore from Feb. 6-16 for $6.85 each, plus tax. Each book will have a nameplate for the donor’s name.

The bookstore is in Gaiser Hall on the northern end of Clark’s main campus, which is at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.
