ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The leader of a junior partner in Greece’s coalition government says his will not vote for new austerity measures, required for a massive new bailout deal to avoid bankruptcy.

George Karatzaferis, leader of the rightist LAOS party, said Friday that he would vote against the government proposal expected to come to parliament late Sunday.

LAOS has 16 deputies in parliament, in the coalition which is backed by 252 lawmakers. If the two other major parites, the Socialists and the conservatives, approve it, the austerity package would still pass.

Karatzaferis insisted it was not his intention to withdraw from the government.
