NEW YORK (AP) — A judge in the slander lawsuit two men brought against Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim (BAY’-hym) says claims that an assistant coach’s wife had sex with players isn’t relevant.

Bobby Davis and Michael Lang sued Boeheim and the university after he defended longtime assistant coach Bernie Fine. The two men had accused Fine of molesting them as boys. Boeheim said Davis was lying to make money.

As part of their, they wanted names and addresses of every team player from 1992-1997, saying claims that Fine’s wife Laurie had sex with some would show Boeheim knew what was going on in the program.

But a supreme court judge says Laurie Fine’s relationships have “no bearing” on Boeheim’s comments.

Bernie Fine has denied the claims. The U.S. Attorney’s office is investigating.
