Valparaiso runs away from Cleveland State 59-41

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) — Ryan Broekhoff scored 24 points, 18 on 3-pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Valparaiso over Cleveland State 59-41 on Thursday night.

The Crusaders (18-8, 11-3 Horizon League) hit 11 of 22 3-pointers, including 7 of 13 in the first half for their fourth straight win. Five of those seven 3’s came in the first 8 minutes.

Cleveland State’s Aaron Pogue made a free throw 32 seconds in for the Vikings’ only lead. The Crusaders then scored 17 straight, on five 3-pointers and two free throws. Broekhoff accounted for eight of those points.

Cleveland State, which took a 29-17 advantage into halftime, led by double figures the rest of the night.

Richie Edwards added 20 points, making 4 of 7 from long range, for Valparaiso.

Jeremy Montgomery scored 15 points to lead the Vikings (20-5, 10-3), which snapped a five-game winning streak.
