NEW YORK (AP) — Sideline audio from the Super Bowl reveals that the Patriots wanted the Giants to throw toward Mario Manningham, who made a crucial over-the-shoulder catch during New York’s winning drive.

“Sound FX,” which first aired Wednesday night on NFL Network, catches New England coach Bill Belichick telling his defenders to focus on Victor Cruz or Hakeem Nicks. He says, “make them go to Manningham” or tight end Bear Pascoe.

Manningham’s 38-yard reception between two defenders along the sideline was the key play on the touchdown drive that put the Giants up 21-17 with 57 seconds left.

Cruz had 82 catches for 1,536 yards this season, while Nicks had 76 receptions for 1,192 yards. Manningham caught 39 passes for 523 yards and was slowed by injuries.
