Ore. house fire forces neighborhood evacuation

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Police heard the popping sound of ammunition at a house fire that forced the evacuation of residents in an Oregon City neighborhood, but so far haven't found a cause.

The mysterious Clackamas County house fire was first reported Friday evening, when neighbors say they heard an explosion at a detached garage.

Firefighters put down the fire and took a 40-year-old resident of the home to a hospital.

Investigators didn't find a bomb and determined the area is safe.

The injured house resident has not yet been identified.
