Venezuela opposition chooses Chavez’s challenger

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — State governor Henrique Capriles has won a primary vote to become the single candidate who will challenge Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Opposition election chief Teresa Albanes has announced the results, saying Capriles won more than 1.8 million of the 2.9 million votes cast. Capriles beat Zulia state Gov. Pablo Perez by a wide margin.
