Arrest in fatal Redmond, Wash., shooting

REDMOND, Wash. (AP) -- Police in the east Seattle suburb of Redmond say they have arrested a 21-year-old man for investigation of first-degree manslaughter in a fatal shooting at a weekend party.

Spokesman Jim Bove said Monday that Cornelius DeJong IV of Redmond was arrested. Police accuse the man of firing a .40-caliber semiautomatic hand gun at a house party early Sunday morning. Bove says the bullet traveled through a wall and struck a 20-year-old Seattle woman who was standing on the other side.

The victim was later pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud party at the house. They say the woman who owns the home allows her grandson to live there.
