BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Four McGlynn scored 24 points and Vermont ended Stony Brook’s eight-game winning streak 68-49 Sunday.

The Catamounts (17-10, 11-2) won their eighth straight and gained the inside track for the America East Conference tournament’s top seed.

While both Vermont and the Seawolves (17-8, 12-2) have two losses, and they split their games, if the Catamounts win their last three league games they hold the tiebreaker because of their better record against third-place Boston University.

McGlynn’s 13 points in a span of 5:20 in the second half helped Vermont widen a 30-26 lead to 48-30 with 7:34 remaining.

Matt Glass added 13 points and Brendan Bald 12 for the Catamounts.

Dallas Joyner scored 13 for Stony Brook, which shot 33.3 percent (17 of 51) and was 0 for 15 on 3-pointers. Bryan Dougher, the conference leader in 3-pointers made, was 0 for 7 from long range and 2 of 14 overall.
